Iowa City is a rapidly growing community, combining historic charm and character with innovative growth and big-city amenities. Anchored by the University of Iowa and UI Hospitals and Clinics, and boasting the nation's first UNESCO City of Literature designation, Iowa City is a creative, dynamic place offering a place like no other to live, work, and do business!

The Iowa City Economic Development Division oversees the following activities:

  • Development Projects & Incentives: Collaborates with other City departments and Greater Iowa Inc. to assist with specific commercial, office, and industrial development projects and economic development incentives.
  • Public Art: Manages the City's Public Art Program and supports the arts & culture economy in Iowa City.

The Council Economic Development Committee (CEDC) is a 3-member City Council subcommittee established to advise upon Economic Development activities and incentives. Meetings of the CEDC are held at least quarterly.
