Pruning of City-Owned Trees

All pruning of public trees by the City of Iowa City is completed in accordance with national guidelines as developed by the International Society of Arboriculture. Trees that may need to be pruned by the City include those growing:

  • On boulevards
  • In the public right of way of streets or alleys
  • On easements behind sidewalks
  • On City-owned parkland
  • On other municipal public property

If a tree planted in the City right-of-way is in need of pruning or other maintenance, call the Forestry Division at 319-356-5100.
