The Crisis Center's vision is that every individual in Johnson County, Iowa, has support in a time of need. What is a crisis? When a situation, emotion or stress has become too great to cope alone. Through their dedicated corps of volunteers, emotional and material assistance is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Crisis Center is the only CONTACT USA accredited agency in Iowa, also holds accreditation from the American Association of Suicidology, is a member of the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline network and was the eighth agency in the nation to join the Crisis Chat portal. We want to be your first call in Johnson County.

Mobile Crisis Outreach dispatches mental health counselors to homes, schools, emergency departments, or pubic places where mental health is occurring. Goals are to stabilize crisis, referrals to community services, reduce hospitalizations or arrests, and admit to a crisis stabilization bed (CSB) when necessary (1-5 day stay).

Shelter House is a non-profit organization that has provided housing and supportive services to the homeless of Southeast Iowa since 1983. They are Johnson County, Iowa's only general use homeless shelter, providing transitional shelter to men, women, and children, including people with disabilities and older adults. Their mission is to provide shelter - basic and transitional resources -while encouraging self-sufficiency, to any person in our community who is homeless.
